. . . a health enthusiast and founder of Sensible Wellosity. I am a passionate, Holistic Wellness and Health Coach for men and women who are 50-ish and up. I, too, am over 50. Starting in my mid-50s, I’ve successfully bounced back from many illnesses and diseases that started. So I’ve experienced some of the health and lifestyle challenges you may one day face – or may be facing now.
As an avid researcher, I constantly look for valid scientific studies on nutrition and lifestyle, and since my 30s, I have read many books, blogs, reports and other materials on the value of food, exercise, and natural remedies that support a life of wellness.
Now, I want to share my findings and experiences with you to help you enjoy a happier, healthier life . . . a life of wellness. My practical tips, natural remedies, delicious recipes, gentle exercises, dietary supplements, lifestyle suggestions, and more are geared toward helping you reach your wellness and happiness goals.
I believe we can all take charge of our lives, and overcome any disadvantages we started with, such as our birth DNA. We’re not stuck with anything if we don’t want to be. Getting older does not mean feeling older or feeling unwell. It should and can be the happiest years of your life.
Training as a Holistic Health and Wellness Coach
I was lucky to find the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (the largest nutrition school in the world) where I obtained a certificate in nutrition and health coaching. At IIN, I studied more than 100 diet plans, along with the value of eating an organic plant-based diet, successful approaches to dieting and exercise, among other methods for living a life that encourages wellness and protects the earth’s environment for future generations. I also learned about healthy living without the traditional dieting fads, deprivation, and confusing regimes – and the value of using food, nutritional supplements, herbs, essential oils, exercise, and meditation as therapy.
Among my teachers were some of the world’s top health and wellness experts: Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. David Katz, Dr. Walter Willett (famed for his 27-year study of women’s health), Dr. Mehmet Oz (star of the Dr. Oz Show), Geneen Roth (an expert on emotional eating), among many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities. My education at IIN equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health.
Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I will share these theories with to help you make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results towards wellness and health. I will continue to augment my training by spending many hours reading and researching – and attending various classes that promote wellness and healthy living.
I also enjoyed 17 years as the Senior Technical Editor for psychologists who conducted research on drugs and societal behaviors. There, I learned about what good research involves and how to recognize a well-researched article that provides valuable, scientifically provable information.

I am the former owner and head chef of Anna Maria’s Restaurant, located on Connecticut Avenue in the heart of DuPont Circle, Washington, DC. Our restaurant was one of the longest dining experiences in the Washington, DC, area lasting more than 50 years .
I was the head chef for many years after earning a certification from L’Academie de Cuisine. I’ve spent many years creating a variety of foods, from soups to desserts. I loved it all!
My background as a chef taught me to love the many facets of different types of ethnic cuisines. My goal is to share the best of my knowledge in the recipes on this website.
In my early years, I absolutely loved the world of tennis and played nearly every week. A few years later I found yoga, taught by Riki Middleton, which led me to meditation. After some research I found myself at the Unitarian Church, Potomac, Maryland. This is where I was introduced to insight meditation. also known as Vipassana Meditation, taught by Shinzen Young. I practice meditation daily. It keeps me and all who practice it grounded.
We created this website to provide information about wellness, getting to know yourself, and becoming a more vital person as you age. Not only can you apply this information to yourself, but you can also pass it on to your family, friends, and most of all, your precious children and grandchildren.
